The Insurance Supervision Agency organizes a regional conference for insurance supervisors. The goal of the conference is to address the important issues in the harmonizing of the domestic insurance legislation to the EU acquis, as well as to provide exchange of experience and best practices of the regulatory bodies. The organization of the conference has been supported by the USAID’s Partners for Financial Stability Program (PFS). The upcoming conference is titled “The challenges in harmonizing of the national insurance legislation and supervision to the EU acquis”. It will include topics related to the “Challenges of Solvency II” and “Risk based supervision”, as well as other current issues relevant to the insurance supervision. The conference will be held on 30-31 May 2011 in Ohrid, Macedonia. The venue of the conference is hotel “Granit”, Ohrid. The conference is aiming to bring together officials from the regulatory bodies from the SEE region which are in different phases of their accession process to the EU (Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, Albania and, the host country, Macedonia), as well as officials of the regulatory bodies from the EU countries, International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS), European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA) and academics from prominent universities.
